Warnervale Wildcats vs Ourimbah
17th April 2010 - 98-0

The season is finally under way, and the first team to feel the "wrath" of the Wildcat was the Ourimbah Razorbacks. The crowd at Ourimbah Park was given a preview of what was to come when the team lined up along the deadball line and were pacing like caged lions/wildcats.
The game was an explosion of talent and raw power from the opening whistle until the end of the game. The coaches weren't too happy about the team "clocking" off with 10 minutes to go, but they can be excused this time.
It was great to see all available players showing up and giving their support - even JJ made it there on crutches after his bad burn experience. Liam Potter was our tee boy on the day and looks just about ready to come back to the team.
Try scorers werenearly too numerous to list but it was extremely pleasing to see the piggies doing all the hard yards and bending the opposition backwards, while the princesses revelled in the extra space and virtually scored at will.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Ourimbah
24th April 2010 - 48 - 0

Second week in a row against the Razorbacks and the coach gave the honour of running on to the team which will have to stand alone next weekend against the reigning premiers, Woy Woy Red.
They performed magnificently and the halftime score was 22-0 which certainly gave us an idea of how strong we are with our reserves bench and "non-rep" players for 2010. Well done to all the boys, they certainly performed magnificently, with Little Tom, Kurt with a K, and Tom D. (the Rissole) working tirelessly.
The second half was time to give our rep players a bit of game time to keep up their match fitness for the Country Weekend Championships next weekend. It is unsure if they thought the game was already won and took it easy, but they didn't perform as well as the run-on side. In fact Coach Chris thought of taking some of these rep players off the paddock and putting some of our newer players back on.
Not good boys, you all have a lot of talent but it has to show on the field, not just on the training paddock (or in your mind). Everyone in the team has to perform at their peak in every game, because there is someone breathing down your neck just waiting to take your place.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Woy Woy Red
1st May 2010 - Game Postponed

Game postponed due to Country Championships. The Wildcats had half a team on rep duty as did Woy Woy Red.
So the game was postponed much to the disappointment of the players who were very prepared to take on the Red team themselves, and match any number required.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Woy Woy White
8th May 2010 - 55-0

What a disappointment for the team. After last week having the WW Red side asking for a postponement, this week the WW White side showed up with only 10 players.
What is going on? Is it going to be like last year when the team couldn't get a tough game? Two games of high scoring, one game postponed, and another game against only 10 players.
Showing typical Warnervale spirit the team was broken up into two teams of 10 players, and each team was given half of the first half to get some match practice. Who knows what the score was, but the Woy Woy coach pulled the pin at half time.
Hopefully next week the WW Red side will show up and we can see just how good we really are.

That's another one for the team

Warnervale Wildcats vs Woy Woy White (after draw reshuffle)
15th May 2010 - Forfeit by Woy Woy White

Even more disappointing that last week - this time the White team didn't show up for the game. The first the team heard of the forfeit was about 10:30 in the morning, just as the team players would have been getting ready to come to the ground.
One of the Woy Woy parents told us that the decision was made on Thursday night, but unfortunately we weren't advised until Saturday.
It was even more frustrating as the whole draw was rearranged to allow the 15 whites to follow on after the very successful Woy Woy 14s so they could back up and form a team.
The players in the Woy Woy White team must be as frustrated as us?

Warnervale Wildcats vs Avoca
22nd May 2010 - Game Postponed

OK, this is getting really silly now.
This time it wasn't a team that didnt' show up and play . . . this time it was the weather that stopped the team getting a game. I pity the team that has to eventually show up to play the Wildcats because the players are getting so frustrated with not getting a "fair dinkum" game, they are starting to tear strips off the wallpaper.
So . . . how come when the Council recorded message said ALL grounds were closed, that Heazlett Park was the only one which didn't have a game on it? Apparently the Council has done it again, digging up the cricket pitch to ensure that the middle of the oval was a mudheap, and no game could possibly go ahead.
We can't possibly have a season like 2009 when the team just couldn't get into a groove. There is no doubt that the team last year could have won the premiership if given a fair go.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Entrance
19th June 2010 - 14-10

First game on the new Hakone Oval, and the team performed just good enough to make history as the first Warnervale team to win a game at our new home ground. It was quite obvious just how rusty the team was, having not had a game for 6 weeks - and the game before that was half a game against a 10-man Woy Woy White team.
The Entrance Rams made all the running early, and jumped out to a good lead and looked like going on with the game. But the Wildcats finally started to get into stride, and the players started to look like the team we know they can be.
A great win, which showed a lot of character. But a score of 14-10 is bad for the spectator's dicky tickers.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Woy Woy Red
20th June 2010 - Catch up game - 22-20

Being a make-up game due to a postponement for representative duties, this was the team's second "hard" game in two days. And the extremely hard game against last year's Grand Finalists The Entrance on Saturday, had a big impact on the make-up of the team, with 5 original starting players unable to take the field.
And this game had everything - loud spectators, big tackle hits, lots of talk, and some magnificent running rugby.
Once again, the Wildcats were under the pump early with last year's Premiers Woy Woy jumping out to a 15-nil lead with some terrific play. It took some time for the team to settle down and work out which particular position they were now playing in, but when it started to click they looked fantastic.
The final score of four tries all -with just a terrific conversion by Cameron Mac the difference -was as close as they come. This was a fantastic game for the team, and showed they have the "ticker" to keep going even when they have had all the stuffing knocked out of them.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Ourimbah
26th June 2010 - 19-5

What a "funny" game - with the Wildcats winning the match but looking absolutely devastated and the Ourimbah side losing but looking ecstatic because they scored a try against us. And to make the day even more bizarre, it was a Warnervale home game but was played at the Entrance home ground -and we even had to pay for the referee - you've got to love Rugby.
It was quite obvious that the team was flat, with the usual sizzle and pop completely missing from their play. Obviously two extremely hard games in two days, followed by a lot of controversy, took the wind out of their sailes. The Ourimbah side certainly deserves a lot of credit for the way they played, their forwards are a credit to their club, and their backs played extremely well.
The boys have a chance to make up for their "sleepy" disply because we take on Ourimbah for the second week in a row at the Ourimbah home ground next Saturday.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Ourimbah
3rd July 2010 - 31-0

Much better boys . . . . the team got back a bit of their zip for this game. We are still missing quite a few of our "top-line" players but everyone pulled their weight and dug in for an extremely hard game.
Once again the Ourimbah side put in a great game, and it was only the quality of the Wildcat's side which ensured we came away with a bonus point win. Big efforts by Tommy "T-bone" Dimitch, and Tonga who both played out of their position, and comfort zone, but put in terrific games.
Final score of 31- nil and this time the boys had a smile on their face.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Entrance
17th July 2010 - 17-0

This was what could be called "grand final footy". A great game from both sides, with the ball flowing from one end of the field to the other. The major change for the Wildcats from the last few weeks was that the team had their football heads on right from the kick-off.
No chasing the opposition's score this time as the team stuck right in and refused to let the Entrance Rams cross their tryline. A nil-all scoreline at half time was exactly what the game deserved. There were some unusual decisions in this half which were firmly addressed by Coach Chris at the half-time huddle.
The second half was all Warnervale as they let loose their backline and ran in 3 unanswered tries from the great platform the forwards had been setting from the first whistle.

Warnervale Wildcats vs Woy Woy White
24th July 2010 - Forfeit

I guess I'll let the pictures tell the whole story, as these days you have to be very careful how you tell the story. Sufficient to say that the team drove for up to 45 minutes down the Expressway, to arrive one hour before the game to warm up. Jumpers were distributed, coaches and trainers started to warm up the team. The players lined up at the tent and signed the sign-on sheets.

And then, the bomb was dropped -Woy Woy White had decided to forfeit the game just 15 minutes before the whistle. Forthe second time in a row, the White team had forfeited without any prior warning at all, and both times just before the game was due to be played. The first time we played, the White team showed up with only 10 players, and although the Wildcats had matched their numbers, the coach asked for the game to be called off at half time.

So for three games against Woy Woy White the Wildcats have clocked up 25 minutes of play. Being very careful what I say, I can only comment that this just isn't good enough and (in my opinion) shows a lack of respect for the Warnervale Wildcats and the great game of rugby itself.

The team was broken into two squads, one squad turned their jerseys inside out, and then played a game of Warnervale Whites vs Warnervale Blues on the same oval which had been booked for the real game. The game was only interrupted when the Ground Marshals decided to drive a car and trailer onto the edge of the pitch in the middle of the game to start to tidy up.
