Opening home games at Hakone Oval

What a great day for the local community, and the various members of the Wildcat's family. Lovely sunny day, crowds of happy people and laughing children, kids giving demonstration games of cricket, netball, soccer, rugby, and league.
We had dignitaries from all over the place, and the speechs and ribbon cutting went smoothly -and then it was on to the steak sandwiches and watching the kids have fun. It doesn't get any better than this.

All the time spent patiently waiting for Hakone Oval to be completed proved
worthwhile when the Wildcats ran onto the turf of their new home ground on
Saturday 20th June 2010.
What a magnificent facility, and what a credit to Wyong Shire Council. The players, committee, supporters and parents were "blown away" with what has been achieved over the past few years. The Wildcats look forward to many enjoyable seasons playing at a facility which really could be called the "pride of the Central Coast".

A bit bare on the first day, but the ground certainly looks magnificent

The team with the honour of playing the first ever rugby game on the new oval
The first junior player to score a try at the new oval was Matt Winslow
The first Wildcat team to win a game on the new oval was the Under 15's v Entrance

Setting up the facilities on the first day. The barbie is ready to go, and the merchandise tent is nearly set.

No-one has even sat in the Home Team change rooms

The new canteen has so much room it nearly looks bare

Even the littlies have somewhere to play while their bigger family members play rugby
The Ladies attack the Wineries
What is going on with our ladies??? They warmed up for the Ladies Day at Hakone Oval by putting quite a dent in the wine stocks in the Hunter Valley.

What a great day for both supporters and sponsors at the eagerly-awaited Long Lunch 2010. Great meals, great company, and some fantastic talks from our special guests, Greg Florimo and Peter "Fab" Fenton.
Some of the insights into the development of the Central Coast Bears were very enlightening. Greg talked passionately about how this venture is going, as well as giving out some secrets from his time as a Norths, NSW State of Origin, and Test player. His thoughts that Mal Meninga was the most "menacing" player he had every played against, and with, would come as no surprise to anyone who saw Big Mal play.
Fab Fenton gave us the privilege of reciting some of his poems, as well as some great stories of his time as a top level Rugby coach. His passion about his beloved Wests Magpies and some of its greatest players was fascinating, but his turning from the "dark side" and emerging into the "light" of rugby union was even better.
His jokes were well received by the audience, and he has a way of putting them across, so that none of the ladies in the audience were offended at all.
Our President, Jim Bilton made a point of thanking those of our sponsors who came along for the day, as well as thanking the supporters of the Wildcats and urged everyone to keep making the Wildcats the team to emulate if you want to have a successful Rugby Club.
Greg and Fab were presented with Wildcat umbrellas and beanies, and the weather outside made them very timely gifts indeed. Tony Van De Wakker from All Sorts Fitness and Wellness Centre at the Old Milk Factory was presented with a Rugby Ball with his logo inscribed.
This year our "Preso", and a number of the Under 15 squad, plus some of our Under 14's attended the Anzac Dawn Service Ceremony at Wyong RSL.
Speaking on behalf of the Under 15 Coaching Staff. Managers, and Club Committee you guys are a credit to yourselves, parents, team and club.
The boys not only assisted (on their own accord) in packing up but helped to serve breakfast to some of our old diggers and guests - demonstrating true Warnervale team spirit.
The response received from the club management and club patrons was fantastic.

Wildcats Under 15's
win hard-fought World Rugby Shield final

at the end of a fantastic weekend at Mingara Gatorade Stadium
our Under 15 side defeated Dural 17-5 in the final
on Sunday 28th February.
World Cup winning captain Nick Farr-Jones and legendary Springbok hooker Uli Schmidt presented medals and trophies to both teams after a thrilling final played
in extremely hot weather.
Teams from Maitland, Port Macquarie, Ourimbah, and Macquarie Beaches (as well as the finalists) played 3-4 games over the weekend, with all these teams expressing a wish that
they be invited back for next year's event.
