WARNERVALE WILDCATS ANNOUNCES EXPANSION
History was created on Sunday 19th August with the inaugural meeting of the Warnervale Wildcats Cricket Club. The club’s first meeting was held at its social base of the Dam Hotel.
The historic meeting saw the clubs’ first office bearers elected, with David Clune elected as President, Leigh Peacock as Treasurer, Steve Dady as Social Chairman and David Blackaby as Secretary.
The club will field its first senior teams in the upcoming 2007/8 Central Coast Cricket Association Competition. Player registrations to date have seen the club indicate to the CCCA the ability to enter a seventh and eighth grade team.
The formation of the cricket club follows on from the successful launching of the Warnervale Wildcats Rugby Club in 2000 followed by the introduction of the Warnervale Wildcats Netball Club in 2007.
The successful future of the Warnervale Sporting Clubs will be further enhanced with the planned development and completion of the Hakone Road playing fields in the near future. This complex will provide a significant development for the local area as it will be the home of all Wildcats teams.
The complex will have five cricket turf wickets as well as three or four synthetic training nets with lighting facilities leading to the possibility of twilight cricket.
The WWCC plans to further expand for the 2008/9 season with the inclusion of junior teams as well as further expanding the senior ranks.

WARNERVALE CRICKET CLUB -
HISTORIC FIRST GAME WIN
Warnervale Cricket Club took the field for the first time on Saturday 6th October 2007. In the seventh grade competition of the Central Coast Cricket Association, after eight grade was postponed.
As fate would have it, the oldest club Lisarow - Ourimbah hosted the newest club Warnervale Wildcats at Paddy Clifton Oval No.2.
History will record that Warnervale won the match by an outright margin of 10 wickets. Scores for the match were Lisarow 84 & 119 vs Warnervale 201 & 0/9. Captain, Leigh Peacock won the toss and asked Lisarow - Ourimbah to bat first.
Lisarow batting first (84), were constantly under attack from a Warnervale attack lead by u/17 speedster Luke Knight. Luke has the honour of taking the first wicket in the clubs history, bowling M. Poncard for 4. Wickets were evenly shared by the bowlers with Dave Brauer finishing with the figures of 3 for 25.
Warnervale batting in reply finished Day One at 6/105, a first innings lead. Peter Smith 46 and Dave Brauer 27 leading the way. Warnervale on Day Two were looking for quick runs, chasing a possible outright victory and they came from the most unlikely source of Steve Dady 52 not out. Steve is not noted for his batting prowess, but stood and delivered with what the captain needed and he therefore has the record of the first 50 for the club he also took two valuable catches. Warnervale were eventually bowled out for 201.
Batting a second time Lisarow (119) again struggled against the good Warnervale attack. Luke Knight again starting well with early wickets before finishing with the fine figures of 4 for 5. Bernie Sharkey also chipped in with 2 for 17. Also, the notable effort of James Peacock's 5 catches as wicketkeeper should be mentioned.
This left Warnervale to chase a small total (3) for victory, and that was achieved with the loss of no wickets.
As a club we can be proud of the way we played. Leigh Peacock has said at the clubs celebrations that, "Riley Sohier the captain of Lisarow - Ourimbah was to be congratulated in the way he helped make the occasion special for our players".
The game was played in the right spirit and both clubs are to be congratulated. A photo of both teams was taken and will be held for posterity along with the result sheet.
Congratulations to all involved, and may Warnervale Wildcats Cricket Club, have a long and prosperous life.
Yours in cricket
