Women and Girl's Rugby on the coast

The CCRU Board has agreed to run a 7-a-side women's competition this year.

This competition will be club based. These matches will also contribute towards the Club Championship, as per our present CCRU By-Laws.

The Central Coast Rugby Union will be running an Open Age Women’s Club Rugby 7's Competition aligned with the men's Saturday club season.

The women’s 7's will more than likely start as a series of gala days, where all club teams will meet and play at the same venue.

However the ultimate aim will be to have week to week matches, with 2 matches of women’s 7's played between clubs each week. It is hoped Game 1 will be before Premier 2 Men’s, and Game 2 will be after Premier 2. This will incorporate the women’s teams into the men’s clubs giving the women’s competition a traditional club rugby experience. This will start in April.

Of course this all dependent on two things. Firstly, we get sufficient clubs entering a women's team, and secondly, that clubs agree to alter kick off times on a Saturday afternoon. This will all be decided at the February Council Meeting on the 19th February.

It should also noted that Central Coast Rugby Union will also be sending a Womens 7's Representative team to the NSW Country Womens 7's Championships in Warren at the end of April. Players in this team must be 17 and over.

If clubs or individuals require any further information, please contact me on 0402883588.

Central Coast Rugby Union will once again be competing at the NSW Country Rugby Championships this year.

These Championships will be held at Warren on the 28th / 29th April.

We will be entering a Senior XV, an Under 19's team and a senior Women 7's team.

There will be no local rugby on that day - it is a General Bye.

The two trial matches (10th March v Newcastle Hunter at home, and 24th March v Central West in Bathurst) have all been finalised. All the player's gear has been organised and ready to go.

The main thing now is to spread the word that the first training session will be on
Saturday, 24th February

This will be held at OurImbah Rugby Park and is open to all players.

Seniors and Colts will train that day. It is an open session and this is the day that it all commences. So if you are keen on playing representative rugby this season for the Central Coast this is the day to attend.
Please note that Colts is 19 and under.

Training will commence at 10 am so players should be there then and ready to go.

Please spread the word to all your players. This year the CCRU will be paying to the clubs the mandatory registration fees for any player who represents the Coast at the NSW Country Championships. Also, there are NO costs for the players for representing Central Coast Seniors - and you get some great gear this year from Alinta.

If you have any further questions please contact me on this email or on 0402883588.

Thanking you,
Larry Thomson.

Talk to Nigel Willmott about joining the WOBS

You get to sit around and tell the youngsters how you used to play the game "in your day".

Great for laughs, and perhaps even a few 'bevies'

Don't blink your eyes if you see a life size photo of some of our First Grade players driving along in front of you. They are part of a club promotion thanks to the help of your friendly Coke Driver, Keith Taylor.
