Unfortunate losses to First and Second Grade while our juniors have a successful weekend

In another accolade for the Wildcats, we had 3 junior and 2 senior sides in the semi-finals series last Saturday.
Our two senior teams were beaten at the death, and now bow out of the 2017 competition.
Two of our junior teams moved straight into the Grand Final, while the Under 11s play in the Preliminary Final next weekend

Under 11 -  Warnervale vs Terrigal Red (43-17 loss)
preliminary final this weekend 8am at Ettalong Oval

Under 15 - Warnervale vs Woy Woy (38-29 win)
Grand Final on the 9th at Blue Tongue Stadium

Under 17 - Warnervale vs Avoca (20-15 win)
Grand Final on the 9th at Blue Tongue Stadium

Wildcats make NBN news again with some interesting thoughts by coach Dave Appleby

Some wise words here from Dave - the team must get on top of its discipline and keep the penalties down. If they do that they are capable of going all the way this season

Concussion is a serious problem in all sport

Another big week of rugby coming up and we want to reflect on concussions in rugby. Research has shown that concussions need to be treated with concern and appropriately. Brain damage is serious and gone are the days where you shake it off and continue on. Listening to former players talk about the effects are eye opening. However, with proper care, equipment and treatment, the devastating effects can be avoided and it starts at young age when the brain is still developing. If you, as a teammate, as a coach, as a spectator suspect a concussion, act - because a game of is rugby is important, but a players long term health is more important. You don't want to see that courageous player in 10 years time struggle to remember the game they love and played valiantly.

For more information please check out ARU concussion and procedure management.

Exciting news from our Club President
Chris Acreman

I am pleased to announce as part of Warnervale Rugby Club player welfare and safety initiative, all junior players from U7- U10 will be issued IRB approved head gear free of charge for this season.

The Head Gear will be in WRC colours, our Logo and will
have the player’s name.

We are looking to subsidise the price for all registered players and will make this available shortly

This has been made available through the funds raised from our recent Thermo Mix raffle
with the balance being donated by the
“WOBS” (Warnervale Old Boys).
Thanks to all for their support.
Chris

Talk to Nigel Willmott about joining the WOBS.

You get to sit around and tell the youngsters how you used to play the game "in your day".

Great for laughs, and perhaps even a few 'bevies'
